Replacement

Finding Your Way Forward

Losing a tooth—or several teeth—is about much more than just aesthetics. It changes how you eat, how you speak, and often, how you feel about yourself.

At The Wraysbury Clinic, we understand that looking for a replacement solution may feel overwhelming. Our priority is to help you navigate your options with clarity and compassion, finding the solution that fits your lifestyle and your long-term health.

Generally, there are three primary pathways to replacing missing teeth:

  • Removable Dentures: A traditional solution that can replace some or all of your teeth. These can be designed to be removable, or stabilized securely using existing teeth or dental implants to prevent movement.

  • Dental Bridges: A fixed solution where a prosthetic tooth is anchored permanently to your natural neighboring teeth, bridging the gap seamlessly.

  • Dental Implants: The gold standard in tooth replacement. An implant acts as a new root, integrated into the jawbone, providing a standalone, permanent foundation for a crown or bridge without relying on other teeth for support

While we offer all three of these options, we find that many of our patients will choose the dental implant solutions. They are long-lasting, and the closest to having your natural teeth back.

More About Dental Implants

Dental implants are the closest thing to getting your natural teeth back. They provide stability, preserve your jawbone, and allow you to eat, laugh, and live without worry. However, we believe that implant dentistry is not just a procedure—it is an art form that requires precise planning and a deep understanding of biology.

Told You "Don't Have Enough Bone"? We Can Help.

One of the most common concerns we hear from new patients is that they have been refused implant treatment elsewhere because they "lack sufficient bone."

At The Wraysbury Clinic, a lack of bone is rarely the end of the road. Because we specialise in complex rehabilitation, our team is highly proficient in advanced bone grafting and regeneration procedures. We have the skills to rebuild the necessary foundation, allowing us to place implants successfully in situations where others may have said it wasn't possible. If you have been told "no" in the past, we invite you to let us take a second look.

A Bespoke Approach to Your Biology

Many clinics rely on a single brand or type of implant for every patient. We do not believe in that approach. Every patient’s anatomy, bone density, and aesthetic needs are unique, and your implant choice should reflect that.

We work with a variety of premium, clinically proven implant systems. We select the specific type and brand of implant that is engineered to work best with your individual physiology.

During your consultation, we will:

  1. Analyse your specific situation using advanced 3D imaging.

  2. Select the precise implant system that offers the best long-term prognosis for you.

  3. Explain exactly why we have chosen that specific solution, so you feel informed and empowered.

Planning Your Treatment, Together

We view your treatment as a partnership. Once we have assessed your needs, we don't just hand you a plan; we sit down and build it with you. We will discuss the timeline, the different implant options, and the final aesthetic result in detail.

Our goal is to ensure that when you leave our clinic, you aren't just leaving with a "fixed tooth"—you are leaving with a solution that feels like part of you.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m worried about pain. Is the procedure comfortable?

We completely understand that dental surgery can be a source of anxiety. Your comfort is our absolute priority. The placement of a dental implant is carried out under local anaesthetic, meaning the area is completely numb and you won't feel pain during the procedure. For patients who are particularly nervous, or for longer complex appointments, we offer sedation options to help you feel completely relaxed and at ease throughout the experience. Most patients report that the recovery is much easier than they anticipated—often easier than having a tooth removed. We normally find that after discussing the process in a lot of detail, many of our patients who used to be anxious will feel a lot more comfortable having treatment with only normal anaesthetic.

I’ve been told I don’t have enough bone for implants. Can you really help?

Yes, in the vast majority of cases, we can. This is a specific area of expertise for The Wraysbury Clinic. Because we are proficient in advanced bone grafting and regeneration techniques, we can often "build back" the necessary foundation that has been lost. While other practices may not have the equipment or experience to handle low-bone volume, we see these cases routinely. We invite you to a consultation so we can assess your specific anatomy with our 3D imaging technology.

How long does the entire process take?

Because we focus on doing things right rather than doing them quickly, implant therapy is a journey, not always a quick fix. Generally, the process takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months. This allows time for the implant to fuse biologically with your jawbone (a process called osseointegration), ensuring a strong, permanent foundation. However, if you require extensive bone grafting, this timeline may be longer. We will map out your specific timeline during your planning stage so you know exactly what to expect—and we will ensure you never leave the clinic without a temporary tooth if you need one.

Why do you use different brands of implants?

Many clinics purchase a bulk stock of one brand to save costs, fitting every patient with the same implant. We don't believe this serves your best interests. We select the implant brand based on your bone density, the location of the missing tooth, and your aesthetic goals. Whether it’s a specific system for immediate stability or a specialised implant for soft bone, we choose the correct dental implants that offers the highest success rate for your body.

Am I too old for dental implants?

There is rarely an upper age limit for dental implants. What matters is your overall health, not the year you were born. We have successfully treated patients in their 80s and beyond, helping them regain the ability to eat the foods they love. During your assessment, we review your medical history in detail to ensure implant therapy is safe and predictable for you.
